We asked for your opinions on the warnings about Mexico and spring break travel.

My husband and I own a beach front condo just south of Rosarito. We
try to go down as often as possible. Rosarito is safer than ever. The
major has launched the Tourist Police Force, a group of attentive
bilingual officers, trained especially to deal with tourists issues.
Rosarito has launched a campaign to help educate people and let them
know that violence in Rosarito Beach has not been an issue, nor have
tourists been targets in the Rosarito area for organized crime. The
weather is great, the people are wonderful and you can live like a King
or Queen on a pauper's salary. -- Marilyn

I live in Tijuana and i have never encountered any shoot outs or
any cartel related violence. In my opinion i think its an exaheration,
you shouldnt judge a book by its cover. Many people that have never
gone to Mexico are terrified to even think about going. The fight
between cartels not tourists. -- Daniel

I think Baja is a great place to go for Spring Break, we have
wonderful beaches and scenary, there is a variety of things to do.I
live in Baja and it is safe its just the media that blows things out of
proportion just because "negative" sells. In a recent interview the
Secretary of Turisimo of Baja stated that for tourists Baja is safer
than other "big cities" in US, like LA , New York. -- Susy

I personally would go to Rosarito, But the problem is,always
having to look over your shoulder, and wondering if your going to be a
victim. Also what about my car, I rather go some place where i could
just relax with people. -- Harvey

i think they are blowing the situation out of proportion. I live
in Tijuana and can say that Rosarito is no were near as dangerous as
T.J. is. College kids do not need to take as much precaution as people
say they should. -- Jorge

I thought these young adults went to college to get smart...looks like they failed there "common sense course" -- Bruce

well, I really think they're exaggerating I mean i was there
last weekend and everything was fine. There are cops all around Rosarito
but tourists should also make common sense decisions -- Fausto

As we all know the media really takes the negative to heart. We choose not to live that way and be realistic and try to get the word out.

Rosarito, a safe place to live and play

Dont believe all the dome and gloom being preached by the US media about our area.

recently posted on a news channels website in San Diego Channel 6 Fox Tuesday March 10

quoted people who actually know the area such as these:

My husband and I own a beach front condo just south of Rosarito.
